With Envy Wednesday-Happy Halloween!

I know, I know its Thursday not Wednesday! But I was sick the past two days and I had this all ready but I didn't set it up to auto-post. So I'm doing it today. Halloween is Sunday so I thought I would show you some fun inspiration for a fun party! Munchkin's birthday is 6 days before Halloween so I know somewhere down the line we will end up having a Halloween themed birthday party too :) I'm sure a lot of these items are seasonal so check them out and also the rest of the items in these talented Etsian's shops...you will be amazed and inspired and maybe make a purchase or two!

Unexpected Bday Present (No I'm Not Preggo Mom)

Have I mentioned that I LOVE getting packages in the mail?? Well it was perfect timing yesterday...I asked the hubs to check the mail (we don't do it every day because the box is up the street so its not like we have a mailbox in front of our house). He came back with this lovely package. I was so excited....it was perfect because it was like a bday present for Munchkin even though I didn't intend it to be one. I featured Twillypop in a past "With Envy Wednesday". I happened upon Sara's shop when it was featured on the front page of Etsy and I fell in love. Sara's necklaces are so creative and would work with a t-shirt and jeans or something fancy. She also has a shop for girls necklaces, Twillypopgirl. Truth be told I would wear any of those necklaces too :)

Love the packaging...sooo cute!

The weekend before last Sara was trying to get to 40 sales in Twillypopgirl. She offered her Jackie necklace free with your Twillypopgirl order. My fingers couldn't move fast enough, I couldn't pass up such a good deal!

Munchkin took an instant liking to her Trinity "neckie"...and my shoes :)

Awwww a much better picture....love this girl and her "neckie"

There are no pics of her wearing Jackie because I had it on most of the night then when I got a chance I had to hide them both to avoid a bedtime meltdown and her losing one or both. I'm hoping to get some cute pics of her wearing her necklace when she gets her pics taken on Weds. or at her birthday party on Saturday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

she just got her school pictures done so she was posing :)

I can't believe my little Munchkin is 2 already!!! You're too young to read this but I love you and you are the reason I do what I do :)

You're Invited

I've started the count down to Munchkin's birthday/birthday party. The "theme" is balloons because she LOVES them.
I had the original design before I ordered her party shirt from Modern Frills. Originally I was going to do a rainbow color scheme but after getting her shirt I pulled the colors from the shirt as I think they are a good mix.

Now I just have to get everything else ready and hopefully Munchkin won't be in time out for her party (we got incident report #3 today plus a call from school basically saying they don't know what to do with her...ugh)

How I Feel...

This sums up my feelings as I prepare for the half-marathon, Munchkin's birthday, her birthday party, Halloween and my family's visit. Plus trying to get work done before I take a week off. AHHHH!!

With Envy Wednesday-Flower Power

Yesterday on my Facebook Fanpage I posted a link to a tutorial on making fabric flowers. I have been seeing them everywhere and they are just so darn cute. I was actually first inspired by this dress I found at Target.
I was looking for a dress for Munchkin to wear for her 2 year pictures. I like how the dress is simple with a pop of fun.

So this week I am featuring some fab Etsian and their cute and style items with a fabric flower flare (say that one 3 times fast!)
Don't forget stop by their shop or any of their social media sites and say "hey!"

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!

October Where Are You?

It hit me yesterday as I was talking to a client that its already past the middle of the month. November is right around the corner. I feel the panicked feeling I so dislike. Probably because Munchkin's bday is in 6 days and her party is in 11 and I really haven't done much.

I am a last minute girl by heart. I really am not motivated for most things unless there is a deadline looming. But last year I waited until my parents had come into town to start printing all the paper items and really getting stuff put together and it was NOT pleasant. We were up until 1 am the day of the party and then pretty much getting stuff together as people were arriving.

So this year I vowed to start early and have things done before my family got here. I really just wanted to have to do the baking and regular party prep that can't be done until the day of (decorating the house with balloons).

I'm not really off to a good start seeing as I haven't even mailed her invites. Good thing its one of those things where I really don't need to send invites (I just like to create cute things, cuz thats what I do!). But I did manage to make a very LONG list of things that need to get done for her party. I will try to start things this week.

Oh and I did I mention I still need to order her Halloween costume (I was going to try to put it together myself but who am I kidding right). Off to whateverhalloweencostumeshopIcanfindonline.com to order :)

I will leave you with a little treat I made for a co-worker's birthday. They are super fun to make...a little creepy too.

Really creepy when they are all staring at you :) My co-worker wears alot of blue and generally some type of plaid or stripe. He also always wheres this one pair of brown shoes. So I used some paper that actually looks like the fabric from a shirt of his and I even made little brown paper shoes :) They were a big hit at work!

I actually made this "little Kaui" (or 2 dozen) first over a year ago for a friend's bridal shower. I used that "fancy" ribbon you can buy off the spool at craft/fabric stores. I knew she was going to where a particular pair of red shoes with her dress so I made a little cupcake bridal. I was just getting use to my graphics program and I realize I have come a LONG was since them. I almost want to redo this one with a real photo of the bride. Oh well....

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!

Debbie Downer

Well great I think my daughter is headed to getting kicked out of daycare. Wednesday when I picked her up her teacher told me that she had to be sent out of the room for time-out. She told me that my daughter was being mean to her friends and was refusing to help clean up. Then she had a big tantrum and hit her teacher.

My daughter is very sassy and has never really understood punishment enough to not do whatever it is she isn't suppose to do. But for the most part she is a good kiddo and the teachers at her school love her.

Well after the incident Wednesday the hubs and I talked to her about not hitting and being nice and listening. I was apprehensive all Thursday because I was worried there would be a new incident when I picked her up and sure enough there was.

This time her actual teacher was gone but there was nice little "incident" report attached to her sign-in/out sheet. She got upset when asked to clean up books and started throwing books and then ended up throwing one at her teachers face. As I read it I could feel myself get sad and I could feel myself tear up a bit.

I just don't know what to do... We put her in time out when she does something wrong and we tell her "no" and talk to her about her behavior. She understands time out is bad and hates being in it, but it really doesn't stop her from doing bad things over again. We don't spank for lots of reasons (I don't necessarily disagree with spanking. I was spanked as a kid and deserved every one I got, but its just not a punishment I want to use.) I don't know how to make her understand that her behavior is wrong especially when I'm not the one there to see what she is doing.

I feel like the next thing is I'm going to have to talk to the director and they are going to be telling me she isn't welcome back to daycare because of her behavior.

Ugh I just feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry for the "downer" post but it really does break my heart when she isn't the sweet, nice kid I know she can be...

AND THE RE-DRAW WINNERS ARE.....

As I mentioned before there were two prizes in the giveaway that I didn't give away because I wasn't sure how to pick the winner. Well a few of you left comments and I decided to re-draw. I still only included those who did the required steps. And it turned out after that I was left with people who had already won but then it leveled the playing field :) So here are the re-draw winners!

Choice of Silhouette or Name Monogram Note Card Set
Lauren Choice of Gift Tags of Gift Stickers
Suzanne

Now bear with me as I get a little sappy... But as I was picking a winner and re-reading comments and just thinking about the nice things people have said it really brought a smile to my face. I really want to be a success and I really love my products. But as much as I want to be successful enough make Green With Envy Studios a more full time job (or my only full time job) I never want to lose the feeling of excitement or surprise that others like my products just as much as I do or that feeling when I log on to Etsy and see I have made a sale. Its like validation that the long nights and stress are worth it. I was a bit teary eyed thinking about it.

You guys are wonderful!!!!

With Envy Wednesday-Pumpkin

Sorry again for the smooshed formatting...I really don't know why it does that or how to fix it....ANNOYED!
click on image for optimal viewing

Now that fall has arrived I am definitely feeling the warm, coziness of this season. It all started with the addition of Pumpkin Spice Cappuccino at the Circle K on the way to work. I was in love after the first sip. Then I remembered that there are pumpkin doughnuts at the pumpkin patch we took Munchkin to last year. It just got me all excited for fall and the holidays come up. So this week I am featuring pumpkin themed items from some talented Etsians!

a)My New Pumpkin Mask (Fine art, giclee print) by AugustEve

b)Pumpkin Spice Cake Truffles by lollidreams

Stay tuned for With Envy Wednesday tomorrow

STAY TUNED TOMORROW FOR THE LAST DAY TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAYS AND MY FAVORITE NEW ITEM!!!

{CLOSED}Fall Giveaway-Day Six

I have mentioned this before but I am a big fan of organization. I love the item of labels, lists and systems. When we moved into our new place I made a promise to be more organized in many different areas of my life. One of this things I have been the most consistent about is making a grocery list and meal plan every week and for the most part sticking to it. It had reduced my grocery bill and also help avoid trips to McDonald's (I do miss it).

I purchased a fabric organizer/portfolio from Quiltish and love it. I created a shopping list that fits neatly inside and there is enough room for my coupons and money. Then I created a coordinating meal planner that is on the fridge.

So I thought I would make the lists available in my shop...

Unfortunately my memory card went nuts and I lost the real pictures I took, so you will have to make due with digital images until my shopping trip this afternoon for a new card.

But anyway the set includes one Meal Planner note pad and one Shopping List note pad. You can customize the color scheme and personalize it to fit your needs. Each pad had 52 pages. The pads are available in two sizes approx 5x8 and 3.5x8.

Just my little way of adding organization, style and fun to your shopping experience.

Here is how you can get a set of your own:
1)Leave a comment here (REQUIRED)

2)Follow my blog and leave a comment that you did (REQUIRED)

3)Like Green With Envy Studios HERE on Facebook and leave a comment that you did (REQUIRED)

{CLOSED}Fall Giveaway-Day Three

I sorta have two "lines" of products in my shop. I have what I consider the illustration line which I think appeals more to people buying items for kiddos or mommies. Then there is my pattern line which I think is more for the adults but is fun enough to work for kids too. After finishing my 2011 Desk Calendar-Illustrations, as much as I was in love with it I felt like it didn't fully reflect all the products in the shop. So I created a second calendar...

This calendar features my eight current patterns that are available in the shop and 4 new comers :) The style mimics the design of my pattern note cards like this or this.
I really feel that this calendar is a good mix of adult and fun!
The calendar is printed on 110 lb white cardstock and is packaged in a clear CD case, which also doubles as a display case. The calendar itself measures approx 4.5”x5.25”, the CD case measures approx 5”x5.25”.

They Heart Me, They Really Heart Me :)

I was excited to see this when I was checking Craftcult today...

I know hearts don't really have any relationship to sales but it still makes me feel happy. I know I heart shops or items because I want to buy or suggest them to a friend. I also heart to bookmark items for upcoming With Envy Wednesdays. I heart because I just really enjoy a shop or a product. Either way it means I'm a fan, so I'm assuming that is why other's are hearting me.

Thanks everyone for your hearts!!

What makes you heart a shop?

I am a constant work in progress...

So I have gone back and forth about posting this but I decided to because it’s reality. I am only human and I think getting it out there will help me move past it. I will begin by saying I LOVE Green With Envy Studios. I look at my shop now and I really love the look and feel and I think it screams ME! And I have heard from the people who know me in real life that it does reflect who I am. So I am very glad for that because it did take several months and several “revamping” for me to be satisfied. Now I feel like I can focus on adding new items, patterns and illustrations to the shop. But…

There are days where I am frustrated, jealous and resentful of the other stationery shops out there on Etsy. I’m frustrated that I can’t seem to figure out what I’m doing wrong, I’m frustrated because I don’t seem to have the constant amount of time or brain power to do everything I want when I want to. I am jealous of their success, their fans, their constant praise from other artist and other blogs. And I am resentful because I think I make some neat, fun stuff and it’s just as nice as theirs, so when will it be my turn. There are days when I want to yell at my shop “what’s wrong with you!?!?”…

WOW I “said” it and I feel better for it.

The truth is I don’t feel that way all the time or even half the time. But it creeps in every now and again and takes over a bit and I’m trying to move past it but it’s going to take some time and self reflection.

I actually follow the blogs of several other Etsy stationery shops because I value the business information they provide since they have gone through the same things I am now going through. And I enjoy seeing the products they produce and seeing the wide range of aesthetic out there. I want to be successful like them and they give me hope that this “side” business could really take off some day.

And the truth is I’m pretty sure I know why I don’t have the exposure I want… I suck at marketing.

I am a very talkative outgoing person in general but as much as I love my shop I have to admit I’m self conscious when It comes to other people’s opinion, mainly people I know. So I don’t tend to talk about GWES. Really only my family knows about it. I am also shy when it comes to reaching out to other artist about questions, or collaborations etc. I know that word of mouth is key to success…

I am a constant work in progress….
