Feeling Productive

As promised some new things and some new new things (kind of reminds me of when I use to say "like" versus "like like"). Anywho...

I have been wanting to add new illustrations and patterns to the shop this year. In my 2011 Desk Calendar-Patterns I featured two new patterns "Burst" "Zigzag". I finally got around to adding one item each with that pattern. I will slowly be adding those patterns to the options in the shop.

I have to be the right mood to make new illustrations if its not a request by a customer. For some reason I felt artsy this weekend (hmmm maybe after focusing on pee and poop one needs a little creative outlet...) and I whipped up 3 new illustrations and I added these newer ones to actual products. I updated the listings with the new photos which I think turned out really well.

I think my favorite illustration is the Robot...he turned out so darn cute! The dinosaur is a close second.
I felt pretty productive this weekend (I'm counting Monday in my weekend since I was off and everyone was home so it felt like the weekend...or maybe it felt that way because I didn't get out of my pjs all day).

I am trying to bring back "With Envy Wednesday" so hopefully there will be one up on Wednesday...I make no promises :)

Unexpected Bday Present (No I'm Not Preggo Mom)

Have I mentioned that I LOVE getting packages in the mail?? Well it was perfect timing yesterday...I asked the hubs to check the mail (we don't do it every day because the box is up the street so its not like we have a mailbox in front of our house). He came back with this lovely package. I was so excited....it was perfect because it was like a bday present for Munchkin even though I didn't intend it to be one. I featured Twillypop in a past "With Envy Wednesday". I happened upon Sara's shop when it was featured on the front page of Etsy and I fell in love. Sara's necklaces are so creative and would work with a t-shirt and jeans or something fancy. She also has a shop for girls necklaces, Twillypopgirl. Truth be told I would wear any of those necklaces too :)

Love the packaging...sooo cute!

The weekend before last Sara was trying to get to 40 sales in Twillypopgirl. She offered her Jackie necklace free with your Twillypopgirl order. My fingers couldn't move fast enough, I couldn't pass up such a good deal!

Munchkin took an instant liking to her Trinity "neckie"...and my shoes :)

Awwww a much better picture....love this girl and her "neckie"

There are no pics of her wearing Jackie because I had it on most of the night then when I got a chance I had to hide them both to avoid a bedtime meltdown and her losing one or both. I'm hoping to get some cute pics of her wearing her necklace when she gets her pics taken on Weds. or at her birthday party on Saturday.

Debbie Downer

Well great I think my daughter is headed to getting kicked out of daycare. Wednesday when I picked her up her teacher told me that she had to be sent out of the room for time-out. She told me that my daughter was being mean to her friends and was refusing to help clean up. Then she had a big tantrum and hit her teacher.

My daughter is very sassy and has never really understood punishment enough to not do whatever it is she isn't suppose to do. But for the most part she is a good kiddo and the teachers at her school love her.

Well after the incident Wednesday the hubs and I talked to her about not hitting and being nice and listening. I was apprehensive all Thursday because I was worried there would be a new incident when I picked her up and sure enough there was.

This time her actual teacher was gone but there was nice little "incident" report attached to her sign-in/out sheet. She got upset when asked to clean up books and started throwing books and then ended up throwing one at her teachers face. As I read it I could feel myself get sad and I could feel myself tear up a bit.

I just don't know what to do... We put her in time out when she does something wrong and we tell her "no" and talk to her about her behavior. She understands time out is bad and hates being in it, but it really doesn't stop her from doing bad things over again. We don't spank for lots of reasons (I don't necessarily disagree with spanking. I was spanked as a kid and deserved every one I got, but its just not a punishment I want to use.) I don't know how to make her understand that her behavior is wrong especially when I'm not the one there to see what she is doing.

I feel like the next thing is I'm going to have to talk to the director and they are going to be telling me she isn't welcome back to daycare because of her behavior.

Ugh I just feel like I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry for the "downer" post but it really does break my heart when she isn't the sweet, nice kid I know she can be...

No Sunday Supper

I am forgoing the Sunday Supper post today. Mainly because I'm not sure what I will be making or if I will be cooking dinner. We had planned to go the coast today but decided against it until we get some new tires for my car.

Plus I am finishing week 3 of y half marathon training and it ended with a 6 mile run. Well needless to say after not running consistently for 2 years and not running more than 3 miles at a time in 5 years my body is EXHAUSTED!! Also when I started training I made the decision to stop drinking soda and eating fast food. These are things I rarely did before I got pregnant but went a little crazy with after I had the Munchkin. I am proud of myself for running the whole way and making pretty good time considering the above. But really all I want this Sunday is...

Yes I want it that size!

I would eat every last fry.

Now I can actually have this tonight before bed and I will!

HAPPY RELAXING SUNDAY!!

Need More Time!

I feel like I have posted my schedule before. Needless to say I really don't have enough time ...and really who does?!?! Now that I am committed to training for the half marathon, on top of my day job and two Etsy shops, I have to go to bed at a more decent hour so it won't be so hard to wake up and workout at 5 am (my only time to workout).

Part of the added problem is I have so many things I want to do with both shops and items to add, blog posts to write, facebook pages to update that my list keeps growing. I am one who needs instant gratification and once I have an idea I am very impatient and want to finish it up so I can get it in the shop or the blog. Well that does not work real well when I have limited time.

See I told myself I would go to bed by 10pm and then I extended it to 10:30 and what did I do at 10:23, I realized I need to do the blog post and it would only take a few minutes. Now it's 10:31 and I still have to potty and put a few things away...so I'm guessing I won't be to bed until 11 (that is better than my current 12 am routine).

Yes I'm Crazy

So the 5:00 am runs are not working out as planned...the story of my life really. I have a lot on my plate currently (self-inflicted craziness for the most part) and I normally don't get to bed until 11pm and I generally have to make myself go to bed. So waking up at 5 am to run is not appealing. Unfortunately I work outside the home full time, too far from home to come home and run and I have about 20 minutes between the time I get home and my hubs and kiddo get home (if I actually get to leave work on time). I have tried to workout after the Munchkin goes to bed but normally I'm trying to do other things then...like cleaning or working. So I'm not really sure what I'm going to do but I have 2 weeks to figure it out because the nut job that I am decided I was going to do...

Run Like Hell is a costume/Halloween themed Half Marathon. It looks like soooo much fun!!! I participated in 2 marathons when I was in college and had the time to train. I don't have the desire to ever do another marathon but I have been wanting to participate in a half-marathon for awhile. It just the right distance for me and I miss running!! Now I know you're thinking how are you going to manage training if you don't have the time? Hmmm good question...I really have no idea but I'm going to have to figure something out and I have two weeks to do it because thats when the training program starts. Yes I'm CRAZY!

Oh and stay tuned for Monday I have an announcement both crazy and exciting :)

HAPPY SUNDAY!!

5:00 am

For the first time in almost two year I was up at 5:00 Am. Ok I've been up at 5:00 am many many times in the past two years but this is the first time it wasn't because of a crying child, or me being too stressed to sleep or because I had to get up early for work. This morning I was up at 5:00 am to RUN. When I was in college up until I had Munchkin I regularly woke up at 5:00 am sometimes earlier to run. It was my time to think about things, get exercise and just enjoy the outdoors. I have been wanting to get back to it but its been hard to say the least.

When we moved I decided I was going to force myself to get back to the 5:00 am runs because I really need some ME time and I really need to get back into shape! Saturday night I was dreading the 5:00 am mandate I had given myself. We stayed out late at my in-laws and Munchkin fought sleep for soooo long. But I got up anyway. I only ran for a little over 30 minutes but it was sooo nice. Minimal cars out that early, I got to explore our neighborhood, got some exercise and the all important ME time.

I'm going to be crazy sore tomorrow but that will fade and I will hopefully be much happier for it.

My Mother's Day

As promised my Mother's day presents!

Munchkins daycare did the above. I was so happy, they always seem to capture such funny moments!

The card munchkin created with the help of her granny :)
Mother's day was nice, we went to an early church services which munchkin could barely sit still for and then we took her to the park down the street from my parent's house. She love the slide and the swings :) Then we had dinner with my aunts and cousins. My dad cook everything which was nice but funny at the same time since he rarely cooks. He normally bbqs and then my mom does the rest but he did it all this year. It was a nice day with the fam and much needed!
When I got home I got the best present of all. We got home at 1:30 am and it was a really bad flight so I really wasn't the nicest person to be around and I walked in the door put munchkin to bed and crashed and then dragged myself out of bed a few hours later for work so I didn't notice until I got home the sweetness that is my hubby! He did want I had asked her cleaned out the office and also build some shelves for me. The room is not done because its not organized yet but it's so nice to have a separate space to run my business instead of the dining room table. My hubby has said he would finish clearing off the dining table for me (mainly because he thinks I will never get to it) and then we can finally start back to eating dinner there as a fam. I will post pics once everything is organized and decorated the way I want.

Why Not More Me?

I have been asked a couple of times why I don't share much personal information about myself or have pictures up on this blog. Unfortunately it wasn't an oversight it was an intentional decisions. If you know me personally you know that I am a fairly open person and I happen to think my daughter is the greatest thing ever and I sneak her into any conversation I can. I tend to be someone that over shares and has a hard time keeping things inside.

But I decided that given the day job that I do and the possibility that sometime a client or something may happen upon this sight (hey they are everyday people too), I want to keep as much of my personal life out of the mix. Now if I had a different day job where I didn't interact with hostile people or make decisions for families that would cause people to not like me I would have my family plastered all over the place.

I like reading about people and some of my favorite small business blogs are the ones where you get a nice mix of business and personal. I hope to eventually get there...but until then there probably won't be much personal life info :(
