With Envy Wednesday-Honeysuckle

Ok I will admit it, I have never been a pink person (well maybe when I was little, like most girls but I still don't remember really liking pink). I have tended to go as far as purple on the "girly" color spectrum. But pink has always been a negative for me. I have always resented the idea that girls should like pink and wear pink and play with dolls...blah, blah. But slowly over the last couple of years pink has crept it's way into my heart. I'm not sure when it happened...maybe after I had my daughter (it definitely wasn't before b/c i remember people being nervous to get me pink baby clothes...i still laugh about it now).

But I find myself picking out pink outfits for Jossie and even pink jewelry for myself. I even managed to purchase a pink and grey plaid shirt and really wanted to but some pink heels to match. Not sure what's gotten into me.


So then I learn that Pantone has named Honeysuckle as the Color of the Year for 2011(they knew I was starting to like it so they thought they should help further that cause :D)

Yesterday on my Facebook Fanpage I posted a link to a tutorial on making fabric flowers. I have been seeing them everywhere and they are just so darn cute. I was actually first inspired by this dress I found at Target.

I was looking for a dress for Munchkin to wear for her 2 year pictures. I like how the dress is simple with a pop of fun.

I realize as I type this that I'm totally late to the party but better late than never. Since we moved we have been doing a bunch of recycling which Munchkin loves. She likes to put the items in their proper tub and is very proud of herself when she does it. Ever since they came out with the reusable shopping bags I have considered buying some but I just never have. I did end up getting one from Target last holiday season because they were giving them out for free one day. But lately as I fold up the plastic shopping bags that we have an over abundance of I keep thinking I'm just going to go get some shopping bags but I always forget by the time I'm done doing my grocery shopping.

Well not this time...I actually remembered! (and if you know me in real life you know I'm not the best at remembering things). It was ridiculous how excited I was to have the reusable bags, it was like I got a new pair of shoes or something (it really is the small things). So now I just have to remember to take them with me when I got grocery shopping :)

Last month I was siting in a presentation at my job regarding a drug treatment facility that many of our clients go to. Part of the presentation was about the programs philosophy and rules of behavior. Part of their rules were around the women trying to just be better, honest and supportive people and not be guided by the drama. The rules were actually very applicable to normal everyday life and situations. My personal life has had its big ups and downs here late and I have really forced myself to think about whats truly important in my life and where I want to be in the future. I have been making changes and putting the focus into trying to just be a better person and focusing on my goals. In the process I have had to make hard decisions regarding people I do or don't want in my life and just what I want to put my energy into.

I consider myself a fairly "low maintenance" girl. I don't really wear makeup except lip gloss and sometimes mascara. I don't take a bunch time getting ready in the morning and I don't spend a lot of money on my appearance. But I do like to look nice, I want to look natural and comfortable but stylish at the same time. My daughter LOVES balloons currently. She actually thinks that all balls. Every time she sees a balloon no matter what she is doing she will stop and scream excitedly "BALL!!!!!!!!!!!" repeatedly. At the Saturday market she was mesmerized by balloons that were decorating this wooden today booth. So of course we had to stop while she proceeded to touch every balloon. I have crazy baby fever right now. I look at my munchkin who is getting bigger and more independent everyday and I know she is not a baby anymore. The hubs and I would like to have at least two children if not more, so hopefully I'll be on the preggo wagon soon (there are just a few things that need to happen before that). But there is always a steady stream of preggos at my office (I think at least one person has been in some stage of pregnancy at all times during the past 3 years), which just keeps babies on the brain.

I am switching it up this week. I have been trying to get Mother's day gifts in order (1 mom and 2 mother-in-laws). Which got me to thinking about what I want for Mother's day. I either have one specific thing I want or I have no idea what I want for most gift-giving holidays. I also tend to me a person who doesn't necessarily want a tangible gift but more like a service. This Mother's day I told my hubby that I wanted our office cleared out and then organized with my stationery items. That way I will have a real studio to work in. But I also told him if he didn't want to do that (our office is the place where every random piece of paper, craft, and item goes to die) he could get me anything from one of these places. We'll see come Mother's day what I get :)

I received tulips from my Hubby at work before Vday (i don't roses on vday). I always make comments that I never get flowers so he listened this year. Well it turns out that he had ordered an assortment bouquet that included various flowers and my favorite flower gerbera daisy. Well he didn't read the fine print that said that basically you get what we have not necessarily what you ordered so the assortment turned into all tulips.

So why is this one not about Tulips...because they aren't my favorite flower and this is my blog so I can do what I want (image be saying that with my hands on my hips stomping my feet).
